Gale Force Winds Just Turned These Lake Erie Houses Into Ice Castles

Photograph by Ed Mis Gale force winds and frigid temperatures have encased a few unlucky homes in ice along the shores of Lake Erie. Residents on Hoover Beach’s South Shore Drive in Hamburg, New York, saw their houses turned into ice castles as the winds created huge waves, driving lake water up on the shore, while the sub-zero temperatures turned the splash into ice. Video Doorbell Captures Historic 24 Hour Snowfall in Newfoundland

The Canadian city of St. John’s superseded its record for the most snow in 24 hours, recording 30 inches (76 cm), as the storm hit Newfoundland and Labrador this past Friday. A state of emergency continued in the provincial capital and elsewhere through Sunday. Snow drifts rose 12 to 15 feet high on some highways, officials said.
