Japanese Billionaire Seeks Woman To Be His Date On Flight To The Moon
It might be a bit of a cliché, but 44-year-old Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa is looking for someone to love to the Moon and back – literally. Back in 2018, the fashion mogul was confirmed as the first person to have bought a ticket for Space X’s upcoming commercial flight to the Moon, and now he’s launched a campaign to find a lover to share the experience with.
Writing on his personal website, Maezawa says that in spite of all his achievements and wealth, the prospect of “continuing to love one woman” remains his greatest desire. And with his lunar adventure planned for 2023, he’s stepped up his efforts to find that special someone in time for take-off.
Maezawa’s search for love will be made into a documentary called Full Moon Lovers, with prospective partners able to apply until January 17. The first round of “matchmaking dates” will then occur in mid-February, followed by a series of “special dates” a month later.
All applicants must be single women over the age of 20, with a “bright personality,” an interest in space travel, and a desire for world peace.
Maezawa hopes to choose his new life partner – and space travel companion – at the end of March. “With that future partner of mine, I want to shout our love and world peace from outer space,” he writes.
If all goes to plan, Space X’s Starship will carry the first-ever commercial tourists into orbit, with Maezawa announcing that he intends to invite a group of artists along for the ride, in addition to his new girlfriend.
The vessel will complete a loop of the Moon, allowing those on board a privileged look at its far side, before returning to Earth. Though they won’t actually set foot on the lunar surface, the lovers and their fellow passengers will be the first humans to visit the Moon since the crew of Apollo 17 in December 1972.
