Trump signs bill reinstating the FAAs drone registration requirement

Back in late-2015, the Federal Aviation Administration introduced new rules requiring owners ofsmall drones to submit their devices to a database and attach a registration code to the side of the product. In May of this year, a judge in the D.C. Surreal Video of Postman Delivering Mail to Neighborhood Destroyed by Wildfire Goes Viral

Hours after the devastating California wildfires tore through Santa Rosa, professional drone pilot Douglas Thron filmed a postal worker delivering mail to the ravaged neighborhood of Coffey Park. Drone registration coming to the UK

The UK government has announced a plan to require drone owners to register their devices. It says the incoming rules are aimed at ensuring safer use of the technology. Under the planned regulations, owners of drones weighing more than 250 grams will, in future, be required to register their devices with the stated aim being to improve accountability and encourage owners to act responsibly. Drone Racing League has closed on $20M in Series B funding, led by U.K telecommunications company Sky, Liberty Media Corporation (which owns the Formula 1 racing brand) and Lux Capital. A federal appeals court shoots down the FAAs drone registry requirement

The FAAs courtesy of a U.S. Court of Appeals ruling. The D.C.-based court sided with drone hobbyist John Taylor, who argued that the Federal Aviation Administration doesnt have jurisdiction over what the law classifies as model aircraft. Taylor does not think that the FAA had the statutory authority to issue the Registration Rule and require him to register, Circuit Judge Brett Kavanaugh wrote in the statement. Taylor is right.
