‘Riverdale’ Production Suspended Following Luke Perrys Death – Perez Hilton

The CW has halted production on Riverdale following the death of Luke Perry.

As we reported,

Perry had starred on the hit show since its debut in 2016, playing the father of Archie Andrews (KJ Apa). Executive producers Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Jon Goldwater shared a statement with Warner Bros. TV and The CW after news of his death broke, writing:

“We are deeply saddened to learn today about the passing of Luke Perry. A beloved member of the Riverdale, Warner Bros. and CW family, Luke was everything you would hope he would be: an incredibly caring, consummate professional with a giant heart, and a true friend to all. A father figure and mentor to the show’s young cast, Luke was incredibly generous, and he infused the set with love and kindness. Our thoughts are with Luke’s family during this most difficult time.”

Some of Perry’s former Beverly Hills, 90210 costars have already paid tribute to him on social media. Riverdale showrunner Aguirre-Sacasa also took to Instagram to mourn the loss of his colleague, whom he called a “father figure” and “mentor.”

Surely, the hiatus will also give the writers time to figure out how to appropriately send off the beloved father figure of the series.

Our hearts go out to all of Perry’s friends, colleagues, and loved ones at this time.
