Medicine and the health industry are complex and often controversial areas, people hold very strong opinions about what’s best for themselves and rightly so. There is plenty of misinformation out there so you need to be careful and use common sense when self-diagnosing, blindly following random people’s ‘advice’ online can quickly become a fatal mistake.
Much better to trust health professionals, who have undergone rigorous education and training to give you the best and most up-to-date knowledge that medical science has so far uncovered. This poster certainly thinks so, after being shocked by someone suggesting that apple cider vinegar, lemon and olive oil will ‘get rid’ of a tumor growing inside of a gallbladder. Recognizing the danger of such a statement, Redditor PastyDeath decided enough was enough, and decided to set the record straight. The response to the dangerous and outrageous claim has since gone viral, and is just the kind of straight talking, no nonsense talk that naïve, and probably a little scared, people need to hear when they are having health issues. “I am not a medical expert in any sense,” PastyDeath told Bored Panda. “I’m also not terribly proud of using Livestrong as a source. There is, however, a balance to be struck between countering blatantly wrong and potentially harmful medical advice and writing my own dissertation on the subject. I chose to split the difference, erring on the side that wasn’t a dissertation.”
“There were a number of other people responding to the original post, and the other people were near exclusively granting their well-wishings, as well as sharing stories of having the same operation done and living a better life for it, which is heartening.”
PastyDeath doesn’t usually get involved in these kinds of discussions, but couldn’t let this alleged ‘cure’ go without challenging it. “I carefully picked where I piped in, and to me, the definitive “yes it will [get rid of a tumor]” was as good a place as any to draw a line in the sand. Before then, there was a lot of ‘well, it worked for me,’ but at that moment a definitive statement was made, and one that was clearly false.”
So it would seem that this particular ‘salad dressing’ didn’t impress PastyDeath at all. What is the preferred dressing then? “This may sound crass, but I like a really good balsamic Caesar dressing.”
